Leaving the airport, follow signs to Cadiz/Algeciras.
Then E15 (toll).
Exit number 172 onto A397/376 (either number) to Ronda (not much warning of this exit which is just after a tunnel).
From the airport to the Ronda turnoff is about 30 - 45 minutes. From the Ronda exit to the village is about 30-45 minutes.
After going through the toll gate, you will come to a roundabout. Follow the signs carefully to Ronda - you go almost 360 around it to get to Ronda turnoff.
Between Kilometers 11/12 at top of the mountain and immediately after a service/gas station, turn left following signs to Ruta del Legado de Fray Leopoldo and signs to Parauta, Cartajima, Juzcar. On the right hand side are wine and leather shops.

After one kilometer you will come to the left turning to the first village, Parauta. Ignore that and continue 5 Km to Cartajima. Turn left into village. Just after recycling bins on right, road forks. Don't go to the left down but bear right as you see in the photograph that follows. Than take the first hard right and park near phone box. Ignoring steps, walk up alley past phone box.

Please note: Parking is not a problem in the village. There is plenty of space and no crime.

Pretty and less stressful route from Malaga airport to Los Castaņos, Cartajima
(probably best not to attempt this in the dark)

As you exit the airport, turn right on the dual carriageway away from Malaga and towards Algeciras and Cadiz.

After about half a kilometer you pass under a blue footbridge. Take the first right turning in the direction towards Coin, Alhaurin and Churriana. At the top of the dual carriageway there is a large traffic island.

Turn right towards Churriana. Go along this minor and slightly bumpy road following signs to Cartama. There are several roundabouts.

Join the A357 (N238) a well made road. The road climbs slowly upwards, through cultivated land and then through a gorge. You will pass Ardales on the left.

At the K. 18 marker, take a left turn onto the winding A347 marked Teba, Ronda 53K. After 5 minutes you arrive at a T-junction.

Turn left on the A367 towards Ronda and Cuevas del Becerro. Continue to kilometer marker 0 and a large roundabout on the outskirts of Ronda. Go all the way around and take the exit to San Pedro de Alcantara. At the next roundabout, continue going towards San Pedro.

Turn right after about 6 kilometers where you see a turning to the right to the Ruta del Legado de Fray Leopoldo as shown in the photograph below. There is also a sign to Parauta, Cartajima, Juzcar.
